I style my plants in DIY painted terracotta pots. I find this to be the cheapest, easiest, most fun and most creative method. I seal my pots, paint them how I want to, and then seal them again (let them dry in between sealing and painting) and my plants all seem to love it!

I water my plants by sticking my finger a couple inches in and making sure it is dry and I also have a moisture meter as back up. I am so afraid of overwatering my plants that in the past they have gone underwatered so I created a calendar on excel to keep track of when I watered which plants and try to water them every 7-10 days.

In terms of light, my apartment doesn’t get too much natural light so I bought a couple of grow light bulbs from Amazon and DIY hung them using shelf brackets and clamp lamps since I have pretty high ceilings.

Arafat’s tips:

Repot, repot, repot. Whether you get it from your local nursery, a big box store, in plant mail, or even as a gift, you should repot it.

I think it’s very important to quarantine your plant, let it settle in for two weeks, and then repot it. That way you can save yourself, your other plants, and your new plant right away. Better to be safe than sorry!

I just really love creating aesthetically pleasing visuals and have a bit of an eye for interior design. I am always paying attention to architecture and how everything plays together. When I visualize a design for a space and then execute it, its like creating a piece of my own little world and it makes me happy.

Incorporating plants into interior designs really brings everything to life. A simple palm in the corner can attract focus whereas a vining pothos can help connect the ceiling to the floor. It’s about finding the right texture for the right spaces and making it into a reality and thats the part I love.
